After being sun-dried the beans are sent to our farm where we hand sort the beans, roast lightly, hand sort, and then grind the beans in stone grinders into chocolate. From there, we grate the cacao for easy ceremonial use, beverages, keto chocolate-making, baking etc.

As Ceremonial Drink
For a ceremonial drink, please add 1 oz of chocolate into 4 ounces of water and cook until well blended. We suggest a small amount of honey. Please note, this is 100% pure cacao and contains no sugar. It may be bitter. It is not defatted, containing naturally more than 50% cocoa butter. This cacao is in a granulated form, not a block or a typical cocoa powder, and it will melt during the warmer months. This does not affect the taste or function of the cacao

This model was made by our handicrafts experts at the Tete Pawã arts and crafts studio. They are located in the upper Juruá region of Marechal Thaumaturgo municipality, way up on the Amazon. The only way to get there is a two day boat journey or with a four seater airplane. 

Tete Pawã is the Harpy in the Pano indigenous language. It is the biggest bird of prey of the region and considered very sacred to the native peoples of the region. A truly majestic and royal bird. In Huni Kuin myth he is an enchanted being created by Yuxibu, the great spirit.

Yawanawa Tsunu is prepared with the ashes of the Tsunu bark. The Tsunu is a tall and majestic tree, considered one of the most sacred by the Yawanawa people. There are different trees in the region that people refer to as Tsunu, but the Yawanawa have their own original variety that produces beautiful cream-colored ashes.

Tsunu Hapé is attributed with numerous benefits. It is said to possess healing power and spiritual strength. It aids in energetic cleansing and combating physical fatigue. The Yawanawa use it to gain strength when working in the fields or going hunting. Tsunu Hapé warms the body, which is why the forest people like to use it before taking their baths in the river.

This kuripe is not pocket size but makes a great ceremonial altar piece. Or maybe just for home use. Its long bamboo pipes give its blow another feel then a normal kuripe. It gives it a longer blow that is easier to pace, more like a one person tepi.

The kuripe is decorated with handmade tribal beadwork from the region. The designs of the beads are originals.
